Sugarcane Research Station, Cuddalore is one of the lead centers for Sugarcane research and is located at within the municipal limits at Cuddalore, head quarters of Cuddalore district, at Semmandalam, 1.5 km away from Cuddalore Bus stand and Railway Junction, on Cuddalore – Panruti road.

Thirteen early and ten mid late sugarcane varieties were released from this station so far.

The recently released variety CoC (SC) 23 is erect and tall growing, gives a cane yield of 133.05 tha with 12.95% CCS and 17.2 tha of sugar yield; moderately resistant to red rot disease and tolerant to drought.
